Transport for London (TfL) used NEC contracts to procure a new overground station in east London, which was shortlisted for the Transport Project of the Year at the 2024 British Construction Industry Awards and was commended at the 2023 Building Beauty Awards. The new NEC-procured rail terminus forms part of a transport interchange including a new river pier. According to TfL’s head of programme James Barrows, NEC contracts are now the standard choice for TfL infrastructure projects. He explained that NEC Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) Option A was chosen as it provided better cost certainty and reduced client risk exposure. Additionally, by using a separate ECC Option A for detailed design and construction, the project ensured a more accurate construction price. #transport #tfllondon #infrastructure
