Lewes District Council, in partnership with the Ouse & Adur Rivers Trust, used NEC to restore a rare chalk stream habitat in south-east England. The contract was awarded to Ebsford Environmental under an NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) Option A. Sameer Shinh, associate director at Advantage RSK, highlighted that NEC4 ECC Option A was chosen as it provided the right level of construction management, making it ideal for this low-value, low-risk project. He noted that it clearly set out the client’s objectives, the contractor’s obligations, and how the contract would be managed and supervised.
