NEC was used by UCL, London’s leading multidisciplinary university, to deliver the first building in its new East Campus at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford. Turner & Townsend Senior Project Manager Stephen Jefferies stated that the NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) Option A effectively protected the client commercially, not only from delays but also from defects encountered in the later stages of the project. NEC early warning process also allowed both parties to identify and mitigate risks effectively, keeping the project moving forward. Despite challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the early stages of the Ukraine war, the £100 million One Pool Street residential and academic building was completed on budget.
