NEC was used to deliver the complex refurbishment of a historic concert hall in Bristol, UK. Bristol City Council, in collaboration with Bristol Music Trust, undertook the much-needed modernisation of the Grade II listed 1867 Colston Hall, now known as Bristol Beacon. The project director highlighted that the NEC requirement to act in a ‘spirit of mutual trust and co-operation’ was crucial in successfully completing this challenging project. NEC early warnings and risk-reduction meetings also played a vital role in identifying and mitigating all cost and time risks at the earliest opportunity, ensuring the venue opened on schedule and the final account was settled upon completion. The building won the Retrofit Project of the Year in the 2024 British Construction Industry Awards. #musichall #renovation #construction #refurbishment #BCIA
