The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg, South Africa adopted two NEC4 Framework Contracts (FC) to deliver 22 construction projects worth R700 million (£30 million). Wits’ acting director of campus planning and development Jason Huang, mentioned "By using the NEC frameworks we were able to activate construction projects faster, with average time savings of two months on project procurement and contractor onboarding." NEC requirement to act in a ‘spirit of mutual trust and co-operation’ was successfully embraced by the management and delivery teams, and can now be extended to delivery of other university operations.
